Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders consist of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), Partial FAS, Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder (ARND) and Alcohol Related Birth Defects (ARBD). FASD are caused by prenatal exposure to alcohol and are one of the most common causes of developmental disorders.

Growth deficiencies, abnormal facial features and permanent brain damage characterize FASD. Neurological abnormalities, delay in development, intellectual impairment and learning and behavior disabilities are also characteristic of FASD.

While a general agreement on how to diagnose the specific disorders does not exist, the following domains may be assessed:
